Adam Dunning
Adam Dunning is an Australian singer / songwriter with an international career between Rio de Janeiro, Melbourne, LA, and Tokyo. His work has been deemed “Summer jazz”, a strong presence of Brazilian Bossa Nova blended with a light jazz feel, and his songs often denote a sense of the environment and humanity living in a truly natural world. His first album Sunset Monkeys was released in November 2010, and has especially been successful in Japan, Turkey, Australia and Western Europe. In the last few years, Adam has played, written, and recorded with some of the great pioneers of Bossa Nova, including Roberto Menescal, Joao Donato, and Lysias Enio. He recorded the first-ever English version of “Voce e Eu” written by Carlos Lyra, as well as writing the first ever English versions to Menescal’s “Nos e o Mar” / We and the Sea, and Donato / Enio’s “Flor do Mato” / Jungle Flower, their classic “Amazonas”, and more. He also wrote the first ever French version of the Gershwin classic “‘S Wonderful” with co-writer Manuel Guignard in Paris. His title track “Sunset Monkeys” off his first album included the voice of world renowned environmentalist David Suzuki. His songs “Leblon” and “Mount Eliza” both refer to his Brazilian and Australian homes. Singing in Portuguese, English, and Italian, he has dueted with great contemporary artists between Australia and Brazil including Cris Delanno, Bossacucanova's Alex Moreira and Rodrigo Sha, Barbara Mendes, Tash Parker, Daniela Procopio, Rafael Barata, Eugenio Dale, and many others. His close collaboration with co-writer and musician Ronaldo Cotrim has meant a strong link between Brazilian and European summer-style compositions. The new album "Glass Bottom Boat", produced in Rio over 2011 and to be released mid 2012, looks to our understanding of the oceans, our place in the world, and the often unseen influences of nature on our sexuality and love. It will be released worldwide under Sunset Club Music. Adam Dunning. The incomparable voice of summer.
