With its emphasis on sweeping orchestral arrangements, celestial choral passages, and angelic boy sopranos, Pathfinder most closely resembles the over the top heroic grandeur of Hans Zimmer 's Gladiator , arguably the benchmark for a score of this type, but Elias offers few if any personal twists on the formula -- moreover, the melodies seem mailed in, and thematic development is virtually nil.
