A2 is made of Judy Jordan (flute) and Karyn Byerly (piano) who have combined their separate careers of solo and ensemble playing, sacred and secular genres, accompanying and teaching into an "easy on the ears" blend of classical, Broadway and jazz music. Karyn and Judy were exposed to English Country Dancing as adults and were hooked on it before they began playing music together. They came up with the name A2 when they tried their hand(s) at dance music. Two sources that have been helpful in researching the styles of traditional tunes are : The Barnes Book of English Country Dance Tunes (Vol. 1) by Peter Barnes and The Kitchen Musician Series by Sara L. Thompson. "Maid of the Oaks" is A2's first recording project.
