Perhaps one of the things Filipinos agree on is that we love the Christmas season. We love the decors, the food, the gifts, the weather, the happiness, and the Christmas songs. We seem to not get tired of hearing the same old Christmas songs every year – whether the original or the remade versions – because they have become a part of our Christmas celebration and are effective in bringing out the Christmas-y feeling in us. Another reason to celebrate this season is the upcoming release of a new Christmas song from Fuseboxx in collaboration with Anima Choir and respected OPM artist Noel Cabangon. Entitled “Sa Sabsaban” (In the Manger), the song describes the Filipino Christmas spirit and directs the listeners to the meaning of Christmas: love. The band executes the song simply masterfully even if deviating from their usual highly technical approach. Anima’s choral background and other vocal elements highlight the Christmas theme of the song very effectively. Finally, Noel Cabangon’s singing makes the song one of the perfect OPM Christmas songs ever written.
