Wintertime Greys / Ghost of New Hope
These are older songs that I've just gotten around to recording. Wintertime Greys was written in 1987 and Ghost of New Hope was written around 1997. Both of these songs feature cello and viola, but are used very differently. "Wintertime Greys" is a lush, easy song that's both simple and complex. It was inspired by Suzanne Vega's second album, "Solitute Standing" and pays homage to T.S. Elliot's, "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock". "Ghost of New Hope" was literally written while I was doing The Artist's Way program, and was on my first assigment out of town visiting New Hope, PA for the first time. The song tells the story of a feeling I got while walking into town, and the things I saw there, and also pays homage to William Shakespeare's "Hamlet" in the bridge section.
